"Haiku" by Matsuo Bashō |
The following are six Haiku I wrote for my poetry class during the 2019 spring semester at Sul Ross State University. Together, they form a single, unified poem about the grandeur of our universe.
Colors coalesce
As dusk meets the horizon
Over the wet grass
Wind pummels the trees
Lays its heart in my hands and
Takes my breath away
Starlit majesty
A night sky filled with marvels
Constant, unbending
A divine mystery
Incumbent, clandestine force
Power absolute
Heavenly bodies
Preternatural cognizance
Endlessly adrift
Shadows encircle
This never-ending respite
In Gaia’s wide maw
